The Unity Sand Ceremony is a novel alternative for the popular ''unity candle ceremony'' incorporated into many of today's weddings. The essence is to symbolize the union of ''two into one''. This sand version is not only beautiful and interesting but also more appropriate for an outdoor setting. With the addition of fresh flowers, these distinctive vases will make an intriguing addition to a home's decor.

HERE IS HOW THE UNITY SAND CEREMONY WORKS: Included are the three nesting glass vases. Prior to the wedding pre-fill the two outside vases with the sand - often used are white for the Bride and black for the Groom. This set features the bride's initial on one outer vase, the groom's initial on the other outer vase, and their monogram on the center vase. You will also receive one container each of unity ceremony sand in two beautiful colors of your choice.

1. The Groom will commence by pouring a portion of his sand into the central glass vase.

2. The Bride will follow by pouring a portion of her sand also into the central vase creating a layered effect.

3. To complete the ceremony, the Groom and the Bride simultaneously pour the balance of their sand into the central vase. If there are children, they can each have their own sand colors and add them after the bride and groom sand layers. To make this process a little easier, create a funnel using decorative paper. Personalize the funnel by including the names, date or even poetry that holds a special meaning for the Bride and Groom. (The central vase can be engraved with the Bride and Groom's monogram). The co-mingling of the colored sand represents the joining of the Bride and Groom. Consult with your wedding officiant in order to customize the readings and sentiments that will accompany this ceremony.

4. Following the wedding, the two outside vases can be used to display fresh flowers while the central vase will remain a cherished keepsake of your wedding day.

Rush orders will ship directly from the engraver within 5-7 business days, from Canada. Please allow shipping time via the method of your choice as well as the above production time. UPS does require an extra day or two from Canada, regardless of method chosen.

Regular orders require 3-4 weeks for delivery. If your date is close, we highly recommend the rush option, since Canadian Customs often delays packages by serveral days.

Please note that these vases are hand-blown glass and imperfections/small bubbles in the glass are normal and to be expected.

Your set will arrive with your three letter monogram in script or block font.

Lighting unity candles is a relatively recent addition to wedding ceremonies, and is most commonly performed in the United States. In carrying out their unity candle ceremony, the wedding couple uses two slim taper candles with a large pillar candle or unity candle between them. At the beginning of the wedding ceremony, a member of each family (often the mothers of the bride and groom) walk forward with candle lighters to light the two taper candles. After saying their vows, the bride and groom approach the unity candles and use the two lighted taper candles simultaneously from each side to light the large center candle. Often a personalized unity candle is decorated with the wedding invitation, flowers, shells, pearls, crystals, an inscription, a picture of the couple, or other ornamentation. The unity candles were traditionally white, but like everything else about weddings, colors are brightening up the landscape. During the lighting of the unity candles, the officiant may explain the meaning of the unity ceremony. It is a popular tradition for the couple to save their wedding candles and relight them on their anniversaries, even if they do this alone. When the unity candle ceremony is performed to symbolize the joining together of the bride and groom, the tapers are most often blown out to indicate that the two lives have been permanently merged. Some couples leave them lit beside the central unity candle, symbolizing that they are still individuals. A personalized unity candle may incorporate a special saying or verse the couple considers special. Occasionally the unity ceremony is performed to symbolize the joining together of the two families, into one united family that will love and guide the new husband and wife. In this tradition, the taper candles are lit by representatives from each family to symbolize the love and allegiance that each family has for either the bride or the groom. As the bride and groom use these two flames to light their unity candle, they bring the love of both families together in a united love of the new couple. Generally, the two tapers are left burning and replaced in their holders because each family's love for their own will continue. Some couples decide to extinguish their individual candles to symbolize the merging of the families.
